National Music Camp 1964-65

63    Kresge Auditorium (formerly Kresge Assembly Hall).   In the '50s, Kresge was partially covered by a roof (photo).  The partial roof was later removed and replaced with a much larger roof that covered the entire audience. (photo).   The new roof was designed by Alden B. Dow, a Midland-based architect.  Alden Dow is the son of Herbert Henry Dow, founder of The Dow Chemical Company.

64    National  High School Symphony Orchestra in a special concert conducted by Van Cliburn.  The concert featured Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf narrated by Lucy Baines Johnson, daughter of then-President Lyndon B. Johnson
